Name: Andrew McKenna

Current Location: Cardiff, Wales, UK

Occupation: Student at WEST (Wales Evangelical School of Theology) doing an MA in Theology/Contemporary Church Leadership, training to be a pastor.

Church Family: Minster Christian Centre, Cardiff (due to become Assistant Pastor here in July 2010)

Background: Born in Devon, raised in Edinburgh, Kobe (Japan) and London (UK). I have previously studied Music and Education and worked in the music and security industries. Prior to studies at WEST, I completed a 2-year apprenticeship with Highfields Church and Minster Christian Centre (both Cardiff). During that time I completed some part-time training in the Bible, Theology and Ministry including the FIEC’s ‘Prepared for Service’ programme.
~
Interests: When I am not directly studying or working I enjoy hanging out with my wife Ruth, following all sports, (with specialisms in Charlton Athletic Football Club, Cricket and Basketball), and playing and listening to a wide variety of music. I play piano, guitar and trumpet and also enjoy writing and arranging music when I have the time.
~
Study Interests: I am keenly interested in what the Bible says about church and what that means for the world we live in today, particularly concerning preaching to different and diverse groups of people and building communities of grace that deliberately worship God, edify one another and proclaim to the wider community the good news of Jesus Christ. I also take an interest in the relationship between the local Church and Seminaries/Colleges in training Pastors, and in the whole business of writing and selecting songs for corporate worship.
